Growth and Development Promotion


The Growth and Development Promotion Services that UMAR offers to the governmental, social and private sectors of the state of Oaxaca has the objective of linking the scientific technological activity of the university to society at large.
Using this concept as a base, growth and development is one of the principal functions that this House of Studies carries out. It also involves helping local rural communities, farming organizations, and private farmers by providing technical help, training courses, and research projects, in which research professors and technicians participate. Through these activities, it is hoped to strengthen the productive/farming sectors with technological innovations that allow for adequate development of activities, mainly through using the natural resources of the region, with the idea to encourage the rational use and management of such resources. The purpose of these activities is to contribute to the socio-economic development of the main production sector of the region, and also contribute significantly to societal change by bringing about better standards of well-being.

Services of growth and development to be carried out by this House of Studies, that are based on the following:

  • The promotion and implementation of research and farming projects.
  • The transfer of scientific technological products.
  • Carrying out tutorial and training programs to increase productivity.
  • Performing food quality studies.
  • Carrying out environmental and socioeconomic studies.
  • Promoting production activities through which improvements in socioeconomic well-being of the population are achieved, in its quality of life and in the conservation of natural resources in the communities of the region.

 

 

 

 

 

The reference services are handled through Coordination of Growth and Development, which is in charge of supervising the direct and active participation of the beneficiaries of such services, as well monitoring the honoring of the commitments generated by the university.

The Coordination of Growth and Development's has established the following procedure in considering the request of a certain service:

  • An application letter directed to the rector of the university.
  • Decision as to the appropriateness/inappropriateness of the application. This is to be issued by department of Coordination of Growth and Development with a base in a preliminary diagnostic study completed along with and an analysis of the technical and financial obligations to on the part of the university, if applicable.
  • Collaboration Agreement. Depending on the approval of the application , an agreement between the two parties will be put forth, in which the terms of the university participation are specified, along with those of the group benefiting from this service, and the obligations that the latter must fulfill. Such agreements are made by the university solely and exclusively with the social sector, offering free services as a gesture of solidarity with the most economically unprotected population.
  • Contracts of the Provision of Services. UMAR will issue these contracts with the particulars specified as stated in the application. Said contract will stipulate the conditions and economic terms that this House of Study needs to carry out the contract.
  • Establishing the Work Program. Once the collaboration agreement or the contract or the provision of services is established, the person responsible for the respective technical area, will coordinate with the research professors and the assigned technicians, (the work program in which will appear a technical analysis - the financier of the case, a calendar gram of the activities to be done, the way in which the monitoring will take place, and the evaluation of the data of every activity and the due dates of the study or financial/technical report.
  • Performance of the Service. This is the start-up of the activities carried out by the activity, each of which should levanter un acta conforming to the group that benefits from such activities.
  • Final report or study. This is the document that has the results, evaluation and conclusions of the service done; this should include a final report of the activities.
  • Agreement of finished product. This is put out by the Academic Vice-rector to end the promotional development service granted by the petitioned group.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The reference (referral) procedure involves the substantiation of an academic record, a unit code decoded upon for each case, which will be handled under the auspices of Coordination of Promotion of Growth and Development.

 

Food Quality Studies

These are based on performing nutritional analyses and of the nutritional content of food from the sea, like fish and some other traditional foods and products grown by the rural communities of the region (cheeses, chocolate, meats, sweets, etc.) which are prepared in the Food Laboratory in this House of Studies.


 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Environmental Impact Studies

UMAR is committed to contributing to the protection and conservation of natural resources and ecosystems of the region, by carrying out studies that strictly adhere to the general law of ecological balance and environmental protection and their respective regulations, according to the current laws regarding these issues. These studies will determine the environmental impact that is caused by various production activities that benefit the local society. These studies include the following: modernization of rural roads, design of landfills, dam building for water districts, etc. They also include the mitigation measures that allow for an environmental balance in hopes to improve the quality of life in the communities of the region as well as the entire state of Oaxaca.


 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Promotion of Ecotourism Activities

This refers to the joining of services of technical assistance, training, and projects that UMAR offers to the local society that will trigger ecotourism as a priority strategy with the aim of generating investments and jobs, and combating poverty in the tourist attraction zones of the coastal region as well as the whole state of Oaxaca.


 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Promotion and Implementation of development and research projects

This is a service designed for forming and putting into play farming projects with the aim organizing farmers and rural and private communities so that they can have access to the finances that the state and federal government have to offer to stimulate the growth of the rural centers of the region.


 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Transfer of scientific/technological products

From the applied science point of view, UMAR undertakes scientific/technological projects that stimulate said development and also allow the research professors from this House of Study to link up with the community sector, in finding solutions in farming production problems.


 
 
 
 
     

 

Program of Consultation and Training to Increase Productivity

Through these services UMAR aids in forming work tables and comprehension outlines of the farmers to solve production program that come about in the aquicola, foresty, zootechnical, environmental engineering,ecotourism, etc, with the aim of instilling the concept of measurement and the and the most productive farming systems.


 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Ground and Water Studies that Improve fish acuaculture farming

This is a new service offered by UMAR through its Coordination of Promotion of Development and the Research Laboratory to support fish aquaculture farming in the area of diagnostics of the conditions in which ground and water resources are found, in order to promote adequate use and management in the development of agricultural, aquatic, forest and fish farming activities.
