Graduate Profile
 
 The fishing engineer is a professional who recognizes, attends to, and contributes to the solution of problems in the field of fishing; socioeconomic, methodological, teaching, ecological, design etc.  The graduate will work in such a way that they can contribute to the improvement, adaptation and innovation of fishing techniques and methods.  The fishing engineer graduate from the Universidad del Mar will be qualified to:
  • Work as a planner for economic development of fishing, and in the legislation regarding the conservation of maritime and fishing resources of the region and the country.
  • Tackle aspects of scientific research aimed at the optimum use and rational exploitation of aquatic resources.
  • Carry out biotechnological research in the transport and marketing of the food coming from the aquatic medium, from the perspective of minimizing the effort and optimizing the yield.
  • Participate in the improvement and adaptation of the traditional fishing techniques and methods, and in the technological innovation for exploiting and extracting fishing resources.
  • Detect the different banks of biotic resources and / or the formation of shoals for their correct use as both sporting and commercial fishing grounds.
   
Field of Action
 
 Graduates in Fishing Engineering are employed in:
  • Industries dedicated to the design, construction and operation of fishing techniques and equipment.
  • Businesses related to the management, conservation and commercialization of marine food and the coordination and operation of fishing vessels.
  • Public and private institutions, carrying out research in fishing exploration and prospecting.
  • Federal or state government departments and banking institutions, as an assessor or project manager of the investment linked to fishing, conservation and the industrialization of fishing resources.
  • Fishing production cooperatives and / or businesses, as a head of fish capture or production.
  • Further or higher level institutes of education, teaching technicians and professionals in their area of expertise.
  • The formation of fishing businesses, creating their own source of employment.
